| JPEG,
GIF and Operator Logos |
|
These are the main types of graphics used
on mobile phones:
- JPEG: The most widely used graphics
format for mobile phones and digital cameras.
It is excellent for realistic images (like
photos) but does not support animation
or transparency. Format: jpg, jpeg, jpe,
jif.
- GIF: Nearly as popular as jpeg,
best for small, detailed text or images
with hard edges. Gif supports transparency
as well as animation. Format: gif.
- Operator Logos: Operator logos
are typically 72 x 14 pixels in size in
a black and white image format developed
by Nokia for the transfer of images to
mobile phones. What makes this format
unique is that it can be sent as an SMS
and will be recognised by the phone (mostly
Nokia phones, but also some Siemens models)
as a graphic. All other graphic formats
mentioned above can only be downloaded
via WAP. For more info, see Nokia Specific and WAP Delivery. When you use 16ixty, the
conversion process needed to transform
a normal GIF or JPEG into an operator
logo is carried out automatically.
|
| Obtaining Graphics |
|
It is quite easy to create your own graphics
and almost all graphics programs support
the creation of GIF and JPEG format files.
To create operator logos:
- Create a normal black and white GIF
or JPEG image, 72 x 14 pixels in size.
- Upload via 16ixty as an Operator Logo.
- The operator logo will be created automatically
and will be converted to the correct format.
